Malaysian Ice Hockey has received a major boost with the announcement that Dexion Asia will provide funds to
help develop the sport.
In the first instance, Dexion will sponsor the Malaysian National Team to make
their debut in the Asian Winter Games in Changchun, China, from January 28th
to February 4th. The company will then maintain this financial support so that
the Team can compete in international friendly matches throughout the season.
In addition, local club, the Malaysian Wildcats, will receive funds and become
known as the Dexion Wildcats.
Dexion Asia Managing Director, Frank Johnstone, was impressed with the
commitment and dedication of the Malaysian ice hockey players and
officials. "They have achieved a lot with little support. They have a big group of
junior and senior players and they have been organizing a league," Johnstone
said. "And now, they have overcome the odds to participate in the Asian Winter
Games. Long ago, it might have been a mere dream for the officials and players,
but today the dream has become a reality. It's a fantastic achievement and what we
see in the team reflects the Dexion way - real integrity, high performance and
an innovative approach."
